Privacy and data

Findie is run by Think Differently Solutions Limited, a New Zealand company (“we”, “us”). This page explains what information we hold, what we don’t, and why.

The short version

We never receive your financial information. Your answers stay in your browser, your records stay in your own folder, and anything you share with your AI goes to your AI provider, not to us. We hold only what we need to sell you a licence and reply to you.

What we don’t hold

  • Your answers in the guided setup. They’re processed in your browser and saved there, and in a resume file if you download one. They’re never sent to us. On a shared computer, clear them from your Hub when you’re done.
  • Your records in My Findie. My Findie runs on your computer and reads files in your own folder. It sends nothing to us.
  • What you share with your AI. If you use Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini with Findie’s toolkit, that goes to that AI provider under their terms. Before you share anything, turn off training on your chats in your provider’s data settings. Your Hub links to them.

What we do hold

  • Purchase details. When you buy, our payment processor, Stripe, collects your name, email, billing details and payment on our behalf. Stripe is based overseas. We sell you the licence; Stripe handles the payment, and we never see your full card details. We see your name, email, licence key and subscription status, and use them to give you access, send your licence key, renew your licence and send renewal reminders. Read Stripe’s privacy policy.
  • Your licence key. When you enter it, and when you come back to the guided setup, our website checks with Stripe that your licence is still active. Your browser remembers the key on that device so you don’t have to re-enter it. We don’t use it to track what you do.
  • Emails and forms. If you contact us or apply to test Findie, we keep your name, email and message so we can reply, and survey answers if you give them. Tester surveys run on Google Forms.
  • Website logs. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and browser type, to run and secure the site. We don’t run website analytics yet. If we add them, we’ll update this page first.

Overseas providers

Stripe, Vercel and Google (which runs our email and tester surveys through Google Workspace) store information outside New Zealand. We use them only to run Findie, and we choose providers with comparable privacy protections.

How long we keep it

We keep purchase records for 7 years, as tax law requires. We keep emails and survey answers for up to 7 years, then delete them.

Your rights

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you. Email our privacy officer at hello@findie.nz. If you’re not happy with our response, you can complain to the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

If something goes wrong

If a privacy breach is likely to cause serious harm, we’ll tell you and the Privacy Commissioner, as the Privacy Act requires.

Other people’s details in your records

If your records include other people’s details, such as clients’ names, you have privacy obligations too. The Privacy Commissioner’s guidance for small businesses explains them. [Final wording pending Kindrik.]
